Possibly the best funk album recorded in Quebec, Floyd Lawson and the Hearts of Stone really let it rip on this yet unreleased gem.  Re-visiting songs like "That's the way I like it" and "Theme from SWAT", this album is raw authentic and sounds as fresh as it did 31 years ago... funk and soul music lovers enjoy!!

{ AK007 } Kokolo Heaven (7')
Once again, KOKOLO continue to add to their ever- growing discography and return to the Afro-Kats fold with a true afro-funk delight in the way of “HEAVEN”. Originally recorded in 1977 by Ghana’s funk master, Ebo Taylor, this exclusive release receives the kind of treatment only KOKOLO could give it, bringing it right into today by laying a groove few could argue with. On the flipside, Ando Kal’s deconstructed re-work transports us to another place altogether via exquisite trumpet solos and rhythmic ebbs and flows. If your dance floor is in need of that “special” something, this is the 7” to watch for in 2007!

{ AK004 } Kutiman No groove/Chaser (7')
Hailing from Tel Aviv, Israel, Ophir "Kutiman" Kutiel, has already established himself at the age of 24 as a promising musician; playing drums, keyboards, guitar and bass with many local bands for the past five years. Here Kutiman sets the pace with what may be described as his more personal side: two tracks "No Groove Where I Come From" and Chaser' from his forthcoming album. Most of the album was recorded during the winter of 2004 after he returned to Tel Aviv after a long trip to Jamaica, where he cut his teeth working with artists such as Damian Marley, Stephen Marley and Turbulance. The tracks features the voclas of Elran Dekel, lead singer of one of Israel's hottest funk bands "Funkenstein", as well as brass section and flute played by the fantastic Shlomi Alon from "Hadag Nahash", one of Israel's biggest bands. Shlomi Alon played these instruments on "Chaser" as well, along with Trumpet by Sefy Tsizling.

{ AK 003 } Kokolo Each one teach one (7')
New York City's Kokolo are one of the hardest working bands on the ever-growing international Nu-Afrobeat scene. With over 2 dozen releases and hundreds of live shows in 12 countries, they're always getting the message to the people. Each One Teach One is a bouncing mid-tempo number that features Fela Kuti drummer Jojo Kuos hypnotic rhythms grooving alongside Project Logics Mike Weitmans groovy keyboard work. Lyrically, the tune is a true positive track, inspiring us all to seek the best in ourselves. The B-side switches the mood and brings in a haunting voodoo-dub vibe to the party, via an instrumental remix by Mike Weitman. Ambient in the first half and beat-driven in the second, this is a great record wherever it is played.

On the B side Vance Payne's politically engaged lyrics are sung with the conviction to make this track a dance floor winner.
